What is a wheel and axle?
A wheel and
axle is a lever that spins
around instead of going up and down. The wheel is
a
round disc attached to an axle. An axle is a
rod that runs through the center of the wheel and supports it. To use a
wheel
and axle, you provide effort by turning either the wheel or the axle. Depending on
how they are designed, wheels and axles can change the amount of force
needed
to do work or they increase the distance covered. |
